Dover Western Heights CMP (Jan 10)

More than two years in the making, a full Conservation Management Plan for Dover Western Heights in Kent has now been finalised.  The Heights, which overlook the town of Dover, is of considerable historic significance, having helped defend the country from foreign invasion.  However the Heights are also an important site for biodiversity, which is appreciated and valued by many local people.  Key features at this site include chalk grassland, rare plants and invertebrates, and a diversity of bird and bat species.

Working with Alan Baxter & Associates, and working closely with Kent County Council and various partners, Just Ecology provided the biodiversity content for the Plan, including valuation and significance assessment and policies that seek to protect, manage and enhance the unique ecology of this important site.
