Looking after National Nature (Feb 10)

National Nature Reserves contain some of the very best examples of natural habitats in the UK, are important havens for wildlife, and are places where people can enjoy the outdoors and appreciate the fantastic environments that are contained within these reserves.

Just Ecology is therefore delighted to be working under contract to Natural England and compiling full-format management plans for two NNR sites - the 46ha Bredon Hill, of key interest for it's grasslands, invertebrates and geology - and the 650ha Wyre Forest, the second largest woodland NNR in Britain, with large areas of semi-natural ancient woodlands, rivers and stream gorges and an abundance of key wildlife species.

Following desk study, site visits and consultation with stakeholders, we are now entering the most important stage in the compilation of the new management plans.  This involves the setting of objectives that will help to realise the Vision - how everyone would like the Reserves to be in 50 years time.

We are working to a strict timetable but are on-track to deliver the plans to Natural England’s exacting requirements.

For more information on these plans or management plans in general, feel free to contact us.
